Privacy Policy

Last updated: 8 October 2026.

This page explains what data passes through CurrentJot, who handles it and what you can do about it. We’ve written it in plain words and based it on how the site really works, not on a template.

In short #

  • We don’t ask you for anything. No sign-up, accounts, comments, newsletter or forms: you don’t need to give any data to read.
  • Statistics and ads come from Google (Analytics and AdSense). If you’re in Europe, the UK or Switzerland, their cookies are only switched on if you consent.
  • You can change your mind at any time, with the button further down.

Who’s in charge #

The data controller is whoever runs CurrentJot. For any privacy question, write to [email protected].

How the site works #

CurrentJot is a static site: pages are ready-made files, not built from a database on every visit. There’s no members’ area and nothing you do while reading is stored. The data described below is collected by the outside services the site uses, not directly by us.

Server logs (Cloudflare) #

The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages (Cloudflare, Inc.). Like any web server, it automatically logs IP address, date and time, the page requested, browser and operating system. This is needed to deliver pages, protect the site from abuse and attacks, and spot problems.

Legal basis: legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Statistics (Google Analytics 4) #

We use Google Analytics 4 (Google Ireland Ltd.) to see how many people read, which articles and from which countries. If you consent, Analytics uses cookies and collects the pages you visit, browser language, device type and an approximate location derived from your IP address. According to Google, Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses.

If you’re in the European Economic Area, the UK or Switzerland and haven’t consented, Analytics uses no cookies: it can only send anonymous signals (for example “a page was opened”) that can’t identify you or link two visits together.

We don’t use this data to identify individuals and we don’t combine it with anything else.

Legal basis: consent; for cookieless anonymous signals only, legitimate interest in measuring how the site works in aggregate. You can block Analytics on every site with Google’s browser add-on.

Advertising (Google AdSense) #

The site is funded by Google AdSense (Google Ireland Ltd.). Google and other ad providers use cookies and similar identifiers to show ads, measure how they perform and avoid showing you the same one over and over.

If you consent, ads can be personalised, meaning partly chosen based on your interests. If you don’t, you’ll see non-personalised ads, chosen based on the page you’re reading and your approximate location, without profiling. The full list of providers and what each one does is in the cookie banner, where you manage your choices.

Legal basis: consent. For some purposes, certain providers rely on their own legitimate interest: the banner tells you which ones and lets you object.

On your first visit from the European Economic Area, the UK or Switzerland, a consent message appears. It’s run by Google’s consent platform, certified under IAB Europe’s Transparency and Consent Framework. Until you choose, Analytics uses no cookies and ads aren’t personalised.

You can accept, refuse or choose item by item. Refusing doesn’t block anything: you can still read everything. Your choice is remembered by a banner cookie so we don’t ask again on every page. You can change it or withdraw consent whenever you like, as easily as you gave it:

Cookies in practice #

We don’t set any cookies of our own. The ones you may find are set by Google’s scripts: Analytics and AdSense (where required, only after consent) and the banner, which needs to remember your choice.

You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings (search for “cookies” in Chrome, Firefox, Safari or Edge). The site still works. If you also delete the banner’s cookie, you’ll be asked for consent again next time.

If you write to us #

If you email [email protected], we use your address and message only to reply and, if needed, to keep track of the issue. We don’t use them for anything else and don’t pass them on.

Data outside the European Union #

Google and Cloudflare are US companies and may process data outside the European Economic Area. Transfers are based on the European Commission’s adequacy decision for the United States and, where needed, on standard contractual clauses.

How long we keep things #

Server logs are kept as long as needed for security, usually a few weeks. Analytics data is kept for the period set by Google (14 months). Emails stay in the inbox while the matter is open, then they’re archived or deleted.

Your rights #

At any time you can ask us to see the data about you, correct or delete it, restrict its use or object to it, and withdraw consent you’ve given. Just write to [email protected].

If you think your data isn’t being handled properly, you can contact the data protection authority in your country; in Italy it’s the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali.

Children #

The site isn’t meant for children under 14 and doesn’t knowingly collect their data. If you notice it has happened, write to us and we’ll remove it.

Articles contain links to sites we don’t run. Once you leave, that site’s privacy policy applies, not this one.

Changes #

If the site changes (a service added or removed) we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
